SCarabeo 100 4T
Ever since its arrival back in 1993, Aprilia's Scarabeo has set the pace for scooter design and technology, becoming a style icon in its own right. Every large wheel scooter produced since then has tried to copy Scarabeo's design. Because still today Scarabeo represents the most successful mix of classical and modern lines in any scooter.
Scarabeo's reassuring, essential looks never go out of fashion. And with its flat platform, and modern, reliable engines, Scarabeo is amazingly easy to ride too. In fact, Scarabeo's recipe for success is so beautifully simple that it is impossible to copy. That is why riders become so attached to their Scarabeos that they would never change to another scooter. That too is why Aprilia takes such great care whenever it makes any improvements to this ...

Scarabeo 200
The result of brilliant intuition by Aprilia, Scarabeo has withstood the test of time by adapting to change and incorporating the latest technology. Over the years Scarabeo has grown in engine size, with new models introduced to satisfy diverging needs. Deep down, however, Scarabeo remains faithful to the original concept behind its amazing success. In brief, Scarabeo remains a trend-setter.
THE DETAILS THAT COUNT
A flat platform provides greater space for load carrying. A windshield fixed to the steering head deviates air flow over the rider, guaranteeing turbulence-free travel even at high speed. Generous analog-digital instrumentation includes an on-board computer with handlebar controls: the system's many functions include outside air temperature display with ice warning. Even the centre stand has been carefully designed to afford the best possible leverage, so that lifting your Scarabeo on to it stand is a piece of cake.
The aluminium luggage rack provides the perfect surface for fitting a top box. And the intelligent use of chrome, plus direction indicators integrated in the handlebars, and many other clever details, make Scarabeo totally unique.
ENGINE
As with everything else on the Scarabeo 200, the engine is brand new, and designed by Aprilia specially for Scarabeo.
These advanced, lightweight, rational and clean running engines combine excellent performance with miserly consumption, are almost vibration-free in use and boast ultra-low emissions, in keeping with Scarabeo's environmentally friendly philosophy.
This single cylinder four stroke engine delivers fun, safety and comfort. It is liquid cooled with four valve, double overhead cam cylinder heads, used for the first time on an Aprilia scooter of this size. By optimizing valve timing, this technical solution, typical of high performance engines, succeeds in combining high power with low emissions. No wonder the Scarabeo 200 boasts the highest performance of any scooter of its class.
The 200 version delivers an impressive 14 kW (19 HP) at 8250 rpm, with generous torque (17 Nm at 7500 rpm), for sporty yet relaxing acceleration and excellent active security under all riding conditions.
In keeping with the original design concept, the engine is fuelled by a modern Keihin carburettor for simple, trouble-free use.
A catalytic converter is fitted to ensure cleaner exhaust emissions and bring Scarabeo 200 within the limits of EURO 3 legislation.
Particularly low fuel consumption plus a generous 8 litre fuel tank, combine to give more than enough autonomy for a week's urban commuting.
CHASSIS
Scarabeo's classical yet trend-setting good looks have never prevented use of the latest chassis technology. In fact, conservation of many of the far-sighted stylistic and technical design solutions incorporated into the range since 1993 has provided an excellent base for the development of this latest model.
The new 200 is designed to maintain all the unique features that make Scarabeo an icon of our times, without losing sight of the easy riding and advanced performance and safety that characterise all Aprilia products. These defining values are engineered into the very DNA of the new Scarabeo, making it agile, safe in all situations, and more than able to deliver thrilling motorcycle style handling where road conditions permit.
Merit for these impressive results is due mainly to the exceptional rigidity and robustness of the new high strength steel frame, and to the perfect setup of the suspension, which is tuned to deliver maximum feel and a super-smooth ride.
The front fork is a 35 mm hydraulic unit. At the rear, the engine and transmission assembly acts as swingarm, with the assistance of an aluminium reaction arm. Simple, lightweight, yet effective, this solution incorporates shock absorbers that let you adjust preload to four different settings to cater for all possible loads and riding styles.
The refined wheels are fitted with 16" high-wall tubeless tyres (100/80 at the front, 120/80 at the rear). This combination is not only perfect for negotiating the hazards of city roads but also makes the new Scarabeo amazingly stable and intuitive to ride for expert and novice riders alike.
Scarabeo has never skimped on brakes, and the new 200 is no exception. The front wheel features a 260 mm disc and a floating caliper with three parallel pistons, while the rear wheel is equipped with a 220 mm disc and two piston caliper. The front and rear wheels are linked by a new integral braking system that distributes braking force between the two wheels and guarantees ultra-short stopping distances in complete safety.
Sportcity 250
The thoroughbred design remains the same: authentically sporty, decisively Aprilia. But now the Sportcity boasts improved technology for a more intense riding experience. The new Sportcity comes with a 250 cc engine, and combines functionality safety, agility and riding comfort. Sportcity's compact dimensions and unmistakable design satisfy your need for sports performance in the city and out of town.

SXV 4.5/5.5
Once again Aprilia has remained faithful to the tenets of its development philosophy, and has transferred the experience gained from competition directly into the production of the new 2008 SXV. Ever since its debut, the world's first twin cylinder supermotard has been constantly developed and perfected by the immense technical know-how of Aprilia Racing. Because of this, race after race, the SXV demonstrates a potential the competition cannot match.
DESIGN
As with all Aprilias, a tremendous amount of care and attention has been lavished on even the smallest details on the SXV. As a result the SXV boasts a unique, unmistakable styling that is nevertheless fully functional in achieving unrivalled performance, because first and foremost even the standard SXV is a genuine competition motorcycle.
But the SXV is not just a pretty face. Your gaze is held by an abundance of advanced technology. One glance at the V2 engine, mixed trellis and aluminium frame, strong swingarm and unique exhaust system with twin silencers under the rear fender and you cannot escape its magical attraction.
Whatever side you look at it from, the SXV presents a host of stunning technical solutions, all enhanced by new 2008 racing colors to express the aggressive nature of this born-to-race machine.
As you would expect from Aprilia, the latest SXV is packed with intelligent design solutions. Fixed air ducts, for example, allow the fuel tank to tilt up for easy access to the airbox. And the quest for technical perfection has led the design team to tweak even small details on the basis of input from the champions who have raced the SXV.
ENGINE: CONTINUOUS EVOLUTION
The amazing engine is, of course, the centre piece of SXV technology. Aprilia was the first manufacturer in the world to believe in the validity of the V twin for supermotards, a segment in which all other marques still cling rigidly to single cylinder engines. Aprilia's high-tech V twin design has been proven to be very reliable in competition. Even homologation for road use has not compromised the technology and performance of this exceptional engine, which is produced entirely by Aprilia. Since the earliest stages of the design process, the engine has evolved to keep pace with chassis development and to give the SXV an unbeatable mix of power and handling.
The 77° V angle is the result of extensive testing, aimed not only at boosting power but also at reducing vibration. As a result Aprilia's engineers have been able to eliminate engine balance shafts. Despite this the engine still vibrates far less than any single cylinder alternative.
The cylinders themselves are integrated in the crankcase and have replaceable wet liners. This unique layout has allowed the engine ancillaries to be arranged in a way that achieves extremely compact dimensions. The results are amazing: the Aprilia V twin is one of the most compact V twins in the world, and smaller in size than many singles of similar displacement. All design choices have been taken in order to obtain maximum power plus an extended useful power band. The sophisticated electronic engine management system, developed by Aprilia Racing, incorporates numerous innovations for the off-road sector.
The injection system features 38 mm throttle bodies (40 mm on the 550) and is managed by a programmable control unit.
Reduced unitary displacement has allowed Aprilia to develop an extremely compact and lightweight crankshaft. The engine is more responsive to variations in throttle opening as a result, and the bike as a whole is faster and easier to handle thanks to the reduced gyroscopic effect from the crankshaft.
The single overhead cam configuration with four titanium valves per cylinder head represents an ideal compromise between compact size, light weight and high performance.
Thanks to its advanced technology, the engine is also an extremely silent running and ecological engine. Technology, after all, should mean reliability and longevity as well as high performance. The engine touches new heights in this direction, and permits extremely easy access to parts requiring regular maintenance like the spark plugs, oil filter and air filter.
Just as much effort has been put into weight reduction, and the engine sets a new record for a V twin with an electric starter. Abundant use has been made of prestige lightweight materials. The central crankcase sections are in aluminium-silicon alloy; external engine casings are in magnesium; the valves are in titanium; and all gears are exceptionally light in weight.
The choke is new too, and features a knob on the airbox instead of a handlebar control. Even the air filter has been improved and is now made from a sponge material derived from that used on Aprilia's official racing machines.
A closer look at the unique characteristics of the V twin engine:
- Electronic fuel injection with 38 mm throttle bodies (40 mm on the 550 engine).
- Dry sump lubrication with separate external reservoirs for gearbox and engine oil to avoid contaminating engine oil with particles of clutch friction lining, and for extended lubricant life.
- Single overhead cam with four valve heads

CHASSIS: LIGHTER THAN EVER
An uncompromising machine like the SXV demands a great chassis. The perimeter frame is a tubular steel trellis structure interference fitted to pressed aluminium side members to form an extremely rigid whole. The engine itself forms an integral part of the chassis, acting as a load bearing element and contributing to overall rigidity.
The variable section aluminium alloy swingarm is a brilliant example of industrial design. More than just an eye-catching design solution, this revolutionary swingarm offers the highest structural rigidity available in this class of motorcycle. The rising rate suspension linkage is damped by a fully adjustable Sachs monoshock with piggy back cylinder and two different hydraulic settings for high and low speeds. The calibration of the rear suspension has been modified for 2008 to improve stability and control over rough surfaces and a new linkage system has been introduced to make the damping action of the monoshock more progressive, increasing both traction and control.
The 48 mm upside down fork also boasts new settings for greater high speed stability and improved damping in off-road use.
BRAKING SYSTEM
The advanced technology and high performance of the SXV chassis are reflected in a superb braking system. The SXV features FTE calipers and lightweight wave discs (320 mm at the front) for maximum braking control even under the most challenging conditions.
The 240 mm rear disc is braked by a single piston caliper for a perfect combination of power and control.
COMPONENTS: READY TO RACE
All parts of the Aprilia SXV are of the very best quality available.
Among the many prestige components are:
- Digital instruments: ultra-lightweight, compact and designed to provide all the information a rider could possibly need.
- Magura tapered aluminium handlebars with no cross member for optimal elasticity and control
- High luminosity LED tail light
- Aluminium oil filter cover
RXV 4.5/5.5
THE APRILIA RXV MODEL YEAR 2008 IS HERE! THE TWIN CYLINDER ENDURO HAS EVOLVED!
Aprilia is proud to present the model year 2008 RXV 4.5 / 5.5, designed on the basis of experience gained in the Enduro World Championship and improved by input from four times world champion Stefan Merriman. The new bike is even more powerful, agile and reliable (service intervals have almost doubled), to satisfy the demands of professionals and amateurs alike.
The design of the new Aprilia RXV 4.5/5.5 model year 2008 owes much to the concept of constant evolution in the name of competition. Experience gained in the Enduro World Championship, which saw Aprilia Racing at the top of the field, plus valuable hints and suggestions from four times world champion Stefan Merriman, the team's top rider, have enabled Aprilia's engineers and designers to transfer advances from racing to production. Impressive team work has led to a number of major improvements over the 2007 bike, making the 2008 RXV even more "race ready", and better equipped to satisfy the demands of professionals and amateurs alike.
Aesthetically, the 2008 RXV looks meaner than ever thanks to new graphics, a two-tone black and red seat, new more robust turn signals and a new larger 3.1 gallon fuel tank. The improved aesthetics compliment the unique dual under seat exhaust pipes. A great deal of work has also been done to ensure the sort of ergonomics needed for effective competition use. The new fuel tank blends in better with the overall design of the bike, enabling the rider to shift his weight around more easily. The new handlebars have eliminated the cross-bar and feature more practical and race-oriented controls. The latest RXV makes it even easier for man and machine to blend into one, without any annoying interference from structural parts. The suspension, featuring a 45 mm upside down fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear, also incorporates new settings suggested by the race team riders, for improved stability on fast sections and better damping over rough ground.
A perimeter frame envelops the revolutionary, powerful, and more reliable four stroke 77° V twin engine. With liquid cooling, single overhead cam with rocker operated exhaust valves, chain cam drive, 4 titanium valves, and electronic fuel injection the new engine is cleaner, just as powerful and has longer service intervals than last year. Though now fully EPA compliant, both versions of the engine now boast extended service intervals that are among the longest in the category.
The choke lever has been moved from the handlebars to the air filter box for improved cold starting of the fuel injected twin. Even the airbox is new, and now contains a sponge air filter derived from the official racing machines.
As with all Aprilia motorcycles, the 2008 RXV 4.5 and RXV 5.5 have been designed with an almost obsessive attention to detail. Their unique design distinguishes them from the competition, and also makes them fantastically functional when pushed to the limit, like winning off-road racers should be.

RSV 1000R
Aprilia is celebrating its impressive sporting record by giving the RSV new graphics taken directly from the bike that finished third in the Superstock class at the legendary "Bol d'Or", the most famous 24 hour motorcycle endurance race in the world.
In a season when Aprilia is celebrating 200 wins in GP World Championship racing, what better choice of graphics could there be for Aprilia's top-of-the-range sports model than graphics inspired by the Aprilia AF1 bikes that brought the company its first GP victories in the early 1980s.
Competition may come and go, but the Aprilia RSV 1000 R remains the unquestioned top dog among supersport motorcycles for its amazing handling on road and racetrack. The Aprilia RSV 1000 R has shown its competitive edge in world endurance racing, where it is the only production twin able to compete on even terms with the best four cylinder machines in the world, as demonstrated by the excellent results achieved in 2006. Legendary races like the Le Mans 24 hours and the massacring Bol d'Or 24 hours have shown exactly how effective the twin cylinder Aprilia RSV 1000 R is on the racetrack , and how totally reliable it is too.
Endurance racing has provided more than just an unforgettable experience. It has served as a valuable test bench for the latest technical solutions now appearing on Aprilia production bikes.
The Aprilia RSV 1000 R is determined to maintain its supremacy as the best sports twin money can buy, for its advanced technology and for its amazing performance.
But what counts the most is the fact that the Aprilia RSV 1000 R is still the bike to beat when it comes to ease of riding. Because riders feel so instantly confident on an Aprilia RSV 1000 R, they really can ride at the limits of their abilities and stay totally relaxed too.
The benefits are obvious in terms of less physical and mental stress, faster and safer motorcycling and the ability to remain fully concentrated for far longer, factors that contribute to success on the racetrack and safety on the road.
